The Board of Finance, which I currently chair, has initiated audits into two major City expense areas: Procurement of insurance, and payment of worker’s compensation claims. Both audits should help determine a better way to manage these expenses and control costs.

Providing pension and health care benefits to retired city employees is the City’s greatest long term fiscal challenge. I currently chair the Mayor’s Pension Task Force, which is examining how to optimize management of the City’s pension assets and lessen the need for annual pension funding from taxes.
