Stamford Board of Education
The Board must address our continued rising enrollment and the aging of our existing facilities. The Board has been successful in advocating for the need of the new Strawberry Hill School. However, the current enrollment and capacity study shows the need for an additional school in Stamford. Also, many of our schools have aging portable classrooms that are past their prime and need to be replaced. The Board needs to work with the Mayor, Board of Representatives, Board of Finance and our state legislators to find creative solutions to secure funding for an additional school and funding to begin replacing our aging portable classrooms.
The Board must push for a school climate that ensures the safety and security of all our students and creates an environment for open communication and partnership between our school administrators, teaching staff, parents, students and city officials. The Board will review policies and monitor programs to ensure that all students have equal access and that staff has been provided with the professional development and tools that they need.

The most important responsibility of this Board is to set policies and a budget that ensures that each and every student in the Stamford Public Schools has access to a comprehensive curriculum, highly qualified staff and a supportive learning environment.
