In Connecticut, an elected Constable does not have law enforcement capabilities. It is important to distinguish constables from the police, especially in uncertain times. A Constable will peaceably serve the public with civil notices. As a Green, I stand for the rights of the homeless and people in poverty, and I advocate for fair, equal, and affordable housing. In Stamford, individuals and families cannot afford average rent costs on minimum wage salaries. A majority of those on assistance have jobs, but cannot make ends meet. This being said, if elected as Constable, I will not serve eviction notices. Measures need to be taken to keep individuals and families in their homes. Housing is a human right.
I am able to distinguish the difference between Constable and the police, and will act accordingly with that knowledge. I stand for Democracy, Anti-racism, and I support immigrant rights.
