District 1 is a wonderful place to live, but we do have our issues -some are simple, and some more complex. If elected, I commit to taking action -- I'll use my experience & action-oriented attitude to work towards solutions to many of these challenges:
Smarter Traffic Lights & Patterns. I know many of you experience the same simple frustration I do - sitting at a traffic light (sometimes for several cycles) while no cars drive through the intersection. This is simply unacceptable for Stamford. The amount of time, energy, and emissions wasted is a big loss for our quality of life. Our traffic problems need immediate attention.
Property Taxes Brought Under Control. The city needs to find revenue from new companies filling our 30% office vacancy - NOT residents’ properties. It hurts our home values, our wallet, and morale.
Cleaner & Safer Parks and Beaches. This year has been one of the worst for trash coming up on our beaches and left in parks. Stamford’s most beautiful areas need more policing so everyone can enjoy them.
Strong Zoning Enforcement Against Illegal Apartments and other Code Violations. We need to more quickly seek out, stand up to, and punish bad actors. This heavily affects surrounding neighborhoods with traffic & parking issues.
Other issues that need immediate attention:
Responsible Development Responsible City Budgeting Easier Access to City Services More Transparent City Government Smarter Parking Regulations More Newly Paved Roads
What I've learned from business and my experience in service is that people need to be reached wherever they are and however they choose. As a member of the Board of Representatives I will be committed to finding or creating the best ways to allow the general public to communicate with me and the city.
I will continue attending and engaging with the community as much as possible, whether through the Cove Neighborhood or Shippan Point Associations, the various clubs in the area, or the many wonderful community events that happen around holidays and the summertime. I’ll attend relevant City Department meetings and make sure constituents get updated quickly. I will be available at all times, and make sure your voice is heard.
I have always had a passion for serving the community and am committed to being an active member of society. I thrive by sharing my experience, knowledge, and passion for making our communities and country a better place with a wide range of organizations in various interest areas.
