My priorities are to protect the 14th district neighborhoods from overdevelopment, to advocate for children and families and promote excellence in our public schools and to fight for fiscal sound, responsible budgets and controlled spending.
After I am elected, I will be sending out a mailer requesting that neighbors sign up for District 14 email alerts. I hope to hold a couple of meetings per year to hear from the residents so I can represent the specific needs of my district here in 14. In some neighborhoods, we are already in the process of developing neighborhood associations. My hope is to make city government more accessible and accountable to its citizens. With better communication, through some of the aforementioned activities, I believe we can achieve this.
I am a former Teach for America Teacher with two school-aged children, so I was very happy to join Newfield Elementary School's PFO executive board this year. While home with my children, and working part time, I became a founding member of ReGroup, a professional women's group that helps new stay at home mother's navigate the landscape of motherhood and career. I've been an avid fundraiser for sight saving causes and for children who are deaf and hard of hearing, raising over $100,000 to date. I also lead and organize group phone banking and canvassing activity for towns and cities in lower Fairfield County.
