I’ve had the privilege to serve on the Education, State & Commerce, Fiscal, Cost Savings & Revenue Enhancement committees, and as Vice-Chair of the Public Safety and Health Committee. Over the past four years I have worked hard to prevent over-development in our district and protect the integrity of our neighborhoods. I have taken a nonpartisan approach toward fiscal responsibility and careless spending while promoting adequate funding for our public schools. I have led various public-safety initiatives including amending the City’s blight, noise, and food-truck ordinances.
If re-elected, I plan to focus my efforts around improving zoning enforcement, establishing a better system for citizen services, and continuing to support initiatives that improve the quality of public safety and our public school system.
Communication with constituents and the general public is a vital component to serving as a productive City Representative. I’ve received many phone calls and emails from constituents during my first term and enjoyed the opportunity to converse about the various issues. I found that when the public is engage and communicating with their representative more often than not the public’s intent is executed by their representative.
In order to improve the number of residents from my district who are engaged I will be offering a sign-up email roster at the voting polls. If elected I would use this distribution list to keep members informed on the issues and upcoming public hearings. In the past I have partnered with fellow District 16 residents to leverage their network in order to get the word out about important topics. I have also organized community conversations related to illegal rentals and will continue to make efforts to host these conversations more frequently.
In addition I would welcome the opportunity to work with my neighbors to establish a Neighborhood Association for the Mid-Ridges. I think the establishment of an association could prove to serve as a vehicle for relaying critical information to our community.
Born and raised in Stamford, I’m a 2004 graduate of Stamford High School, and I attended Turn of River Middle School and Northeast Elementary School. I’m a graduate of the University of Connecticut and of several United States Army schools. My military career began in 2009 as an enlisted soldier in the rank of Private First Class. After completing Officer Candidate School, I commissioned as an officer in 2012, and I currently hold the rank of First Lieutenant in the Connecticut Army National Guard.
I am also the Chief Executive Officer for the Stamford Public Education Foundation. The Foundation serves public schools as a non-profit organization dedicated to providing various programming and resources to the district. Last year we connected 884 students with mentors, provided over 16,000 hours of professional tutoring, distributed over 5,000 free books to children, and launched a summer pre-school program for incoming kindergartens who have yet to have a pre-K experience.
Over the past year I have also had the pleasure of volunteering with the Boys & Girls Club as a mentor, as well as volunteering with STARelief & Pet Assistance to raise money to support animal care and housing in Stamford.
