My most important goal as a representative of the 20th district is to increase city services for my neighbors: specifics range from restoring recycling, yard waste and electronics recycling at the Scofield Operations site; keeping the spotlight on the district's parks, from Heroy to Chestnut Hill to Scofieldtown, to make sure capital projects are completed and maintained appropriately; promoting and monitoring the results of the City's well water testing program; ensuring that police patrols and coverage are effective and continuous; working with the Fire Dept. to increase the use of dry hydrants and other measures to get water to remote areas; and to keep the Building and Zoning departments apprised of situations and conditions that threaten stability in the district.
Attending public meetings of neighborhood groups such as the North Stamford Association and the CAPT Water group is critical to being visible and accessible; maintaining an active email list of constituents who have contacted me on various issues and responding to distribution lists of constituents who share different concerns. Attention to various social media sites is also helpful.
I also served as the District 20 Representative from 1998 to 2000. From 2000 to 2009, I was an elected member of the Board of Education and was its President three times. I am an active member of the Stamford Public Education Association and the North Stamford Association.
