What support would you pursue to improve Stamford Public Schools’ distance-learning solutions? What technology needs do you see as a priority?

I supported the superintendent's recommendation to add technology support specialists to aid teachers, students, and parents with distance learning challenges. I will continue to support her requests for additional resources. I would like to see us overcome obstacles so we can provide synchronous learning to those students in our hybrid learning model.

What do you think is the best approach to facing our schools’ physical infrastructure challenges? (i.e., HVAC/mold, electrical)

I think the best approach to facing our schools' physical infrastructure challenges is to hire a consultant who can identify the areas of concern and solutions; work with a committee of stakeholders; and recommend funding sources. I support moving quickly on all fronts and I will advocate at the State and local level for funding.

How do you prioritize where to make any budget reapportionment? (e.g., technology, infrastructure, special services for students, number of teachers per student)

I prioritize where to approve budget reapportionments based on 1. the superintendent's recommendation; and 2. impact in the classroom. I do my homework, but do not believe I should substitute my judgement for those of the experts.

Please explain one specific issue facing Stamford Public Schools where you feel you can have the most meaningful impact (or where you would like to change direction and why).

I am completing my 4th term on the Board of Education, worked with 5 superintendents and understand the role of a Board member. I believe our superintendent is doing an outstanding job under very difficult and unprecedented circumstances. She has the respect of our community partners, staff, students and families. I will work to unify the Board in its support of the superintendent.
