Jonathan V. Portanova (R)

Stamford Board of Representatives, District 13

Republican
Project Supervisor for Portanova Excavating, Manager for Underground Fitness, and Consultant for Camelot Construction
203-561-5455

If elected, my top priorities are Taxes, Education, Safety, Infrastructure, and Public Services. Taxes should remain at a level that is comfortable and affordable for our residents. This is because we are coming out of a pandemic that resulted in an economic shutdown, an inflationary period, and the federal government needing to make adjustments with the Federal Reserve. Regarding education, I will encourage students to achieve both secondary and post-secondary education. There is a known problem within Stamford Public School that mainly consists of students with disabilities and within the African American and Latino American community not attending secondary education. With my knowledge on this issue, I will work with and consult Board of Education members to do better within our public school system and further not decline testing or other accommodations for students with disabilities. For Safety within my district, I will propose increased police presence to decrease break-ins, carjacking, and vandalism. Furthermore, I will tackle hate and violent crimes by hosting public events to educate the public and keep Stamford safe. On the topic of Infrastructure, I will protect our green zones and advocate to pave our streets. Lastly, with Public Services, I will push the City of Stamford to implement technology to make processes easier, faster, and more accommodating for our residents.
Being raised in a family working in construction for many years, I have the knowledge to fix our schools the right way and prevent mold and other damages. With the assistance of federal grants, our schools can be restored. As your Representative, I will advocate for fixing our schools.
As your Representative for District 13, I will be in constant contact with my constituents and the general public. Furthermore, I will hold public events which are virtual and in-person (if safe) on a timely and frequent basis with our residents. Communication and transparency are very important to me. If you have any questions, please visit my website https://www.Stamford13th.com or email me at [email protected]. I hope you can come out and vote for me (14B) on November 2nd, 2021. Polls are open from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm at Roxbury Elementary School. Thank you for reading my responses and thank you to the League of Women Voters.
