My priorities as a member of the Board of Representatives for District 20 would be North Stamford’s public infrastructure (roads, sidewalks and public works services/leave collections and snow plowing), investment and maintenance in our public parks and open green space and maintaining the integrity and beauty of our unique neighborhoods through strict enforcement and defense of our existing zoning laws. We do not need the politicians and bureaucrats in Hartford or elsewhere defining housing and zoning regulations in our great city.
As a member of the Board I would work to develop a long term plan (5-7 years) with members of the Board of Finance, Planning Board and Board of Education to address the rebuilding or renovations needed in our school system. This plan would incorporate not only Stamford’s existing taxpayer’s contribution but state and federal dollars as well. I think a comprehensive building plan would also look at new school locations and population to avoid shuttling students over long distances. Finally, accountability is an absolute requirement when we are talking about spending the amounts needed. We cannot afford to spend tens of millions of dollars repairing the same problem without recourse.
I will make myself available by email, phone and personal meetings with constituent groups to address the issues and needs of Stamford’s residents. I believe an open and transparent form of governance is best when facing difficult decisions in divisive times.
